Frequently Asked Questions
Laser Hair Removal in Vero, Melbourne, & Sebastian, Florida
How does laser hair removal work?
The laser emits a gentle beam of light that passes through the skin to the hair follicle where it is absorded by the melanin of the hair. The laser energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle leaving the surrounding skin unaffected. The skin is further protected during treatment by the cooling of the upper layers with the chilled tip of the laser, which also provide patients with increased comfort. This helps to protect the skin, while effectively treating the unwanted hair.
Within 10-20 days, the treated hair will fall out. It will look as if it is growing, but be patient. Deeper hairs will take more time to fall out than shallower hairs. You may shave or clip those hairs if needed before they fall out, but do not take the tweezers and try to pull them out. Allow them to take their own time to completely dry up and fall out.
You should wait 4-6 weeks after your last tanning session before you start your laser hair removal treatments. The melanin in your skin seems to be “activated” when you tan. Activated melanin will heat more quickly when exposed to the laser energy, and therefore acquire a higher potential for burning the skin.
You should plan your laser treatments 4-6 weeks after your last waxing or tweezing session. You will receive the most economic benefit with laser hair removal if you have a high density of hair growing in the desired treatment area.
What does it feel like?
The treatment is described by many as feeling similar to being snapped by a rubber band. Treatment is so fast that most do not mind what little discomfort they feel. Upper lips can be done in one minute, both underarms in 6-7 minutes, and bikini line in 10-15 minutes! Hair removal has never been so fast!
Who is a candidate for laser hair removal?
Both men and women seek laser hair removal services. Hair removal is commonly done on the lip, chin, ear lobe, shoulders, back, underarm, abdomen, buttocks, pubic area, bikini lines, thighs, face, neck, chest, arms, legs, hands, and toes.
The Laser is attracted to dark pigment and therefore works best on pale skin and dark coarse hair. The closer you are to this combination the better the results will generally be after proper treatments.
How many treatments do I need?
There are many variables in determining how many sessions a patient will need. There is no one answer that would apply to every patient. The variables include hair texture, color, location, density and age.
Hair grows in three cycles – growing, resting, shedding stage. The hair removal laser only targets the growing hairs. This is why you will need more than one treatment. A very reasonable estimate would be 5-7 treatments. Most patients will achieve 80% or more hair loss after 3-5 treatments.

What are the risks of hair removal?

What are the most popular areas for laser hair removal?
